On Cancer
I am not going to hate you, Cancer
I was going to, but then I remembered
This guy I know
And how he is always telling me:
Child, "hate" is far to strong of an emotion to waste on.....
(insert whatever it was I was hating here)
Sure, you are probably a worthy thing to hate, Cancer
But Hate takes energy and you have taken enough of that
Hating you is like hating the Ocean
When someone drowns
I think I would rather respect you, Cancer
Like the other powerful things I have met
Along this journey
Like Great White Sharks and Winter Storms and Bald Tires
I think I will save my energy, Cancer
And eat an apple
And pet my dogs
And take a walk
And live.
